10th annual convention of the information panel

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Friday inaugurate the 10th annual convention of the Central Information Commission (CIC) here, an official said. The two-day convention will have the theme of 'RTI: Outlook for the future - Trust through Transparency'.

"The annual convention is important in view of completion of one decade of enactment of the Right to Information (RTI) Act," the ministry of personnel, public grievances and pensions said in a statement.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will also address the convention, where Minister of State in the PMO, Jitendra Singh, will be present.

Since its inception, the CIC has received 2,12,762 complaints and appeals, of which 1,62,504 have been disposed of in its adjudicatory role.
The right to information is not only about the right to know but also the right to question. This will increase faith in democracy.
When things go online, transparency increases automatically. Trust also increases

  1. The more governance is open, more people feel strengthened. Today I feel there is a limitation to RTI, we know of the process but not the end product, says PM Modi at the CIC convention
  2. The aim of RTI must be to bring about a positive change in governance: PM
  3. A debate should be encouraged to find out how RTIs can be used to develop the process of good governance. RTI should be used, first and foremost, to better the process of governance, says PM Modi
  4. We need to give importance to questions. When I was in Gujarat, I realised MLA's questions are very important: PM
  5. We need to focus on product as much as the process in coming future: PM Modi
  6. The more the people are empowered, more the nation is empowered: PM Modi
  7. Voting concludes in 11 Maoist-affected constituencies a 3pm.
  8. 47% voting till 2 pm in the second phase of Bihar polls.

Second Phase of voting in Bihar assembly today, real test for allies

Today, Second phase of election to be held in Bihar assembly one of the most interesting thing is that today voting covers 6 Naxal hit districts so the security will be very tight today.

Today BJP 2 small allies Upendra Kushwaha (RLSP) and Jitan Ram manjhi (HAM) has to prove there worth. In todays battle BJP is only fighting on 16 out of 32 seats so allies have to perform well to give huge fight to Mahagathbandhan.

In 2010 Assembly election of Bihar Mahagathbandhan manage to get 20 out of 32 seats whereas 12 seats are headed by present NDA in bihar. An analysis of the 2010 and 2014 results in the south-western portion of Bihar shows that if electoral arithmetic works, the Mahagathbandhan should have an edge.

In the 2010 assembly elections, allies JD(U), RJD and Congress between them got 53% of votes polled against a mere 17.7% for the BJP and Ram Vilas Paswan's LJP put together. The RLSP and HAM(S) did not yet exist.

Four years later, in 2014 LS polls, the combined vote share of the current grand alliance came down to a less imposing 47.4%. But even at that level, it was comfortably ahead of the 40.5% polled by BJP and RLSP put together.

The LJP did not contest any seat in this region and HAM(S), still did not exist.
It is another matter that because opposition to the NDA was divided in 2014, it led in 29 of the 32 segments.

Doubts about the coming together of vote bases apart, the reason this arithmetic won't seem daunting to NDA in the current polls is that part of what was JD(U) in 2014 has now broken away to form HAM(S). Itis in this part of Bihar that its influence is likely to be strongest. Manjhi himself is a candidate in this phase andseven of 20 seats his party is contesting are here.

Round 2 battle is going to be interesting factor and edge to edge fight, finally the vote percentage that will locked today will pay a key role in this battle.

Key Points of Today's Election
  1. Voting begins on 7 AM. However, it will not stretch to 5 PM as in usual circumstances. The Election Commission has decided to halt the electoral process at 3 PM in 11 constituencies and 4 PM in 12 assembly segments. Only 9 constituencies will vote till 5 PM in the evening. The decision is taken keeping in mind the threat imposed by Maoist cadres active in the region.
  2. A total of 456 candidates are contesting. But a depressing fact is that only 32 of them are women.
  3. Election Commission has marked 9,119 polling booths as active in the region and issued voter slip to 86,13.870 people.
  4. Out of the 32 seats, 7 are reserved as Schedule Caste (SC) only. They include: Mohania, Chenari, Makhdumpur, Kutumba, Imamganj, Barachatti and Bodhgaya.
Key Highlights of today's Poll:
  1. Voting for the second phase of Bihar Polls begins
  2. Polling in Jehanabad delayed due to some technical snag with EVM machines
  3. Bomb found near booth number 144 at Rafiganj in Aurangabad.
  4. Polling percentage 21% till 10 am of second phase of Bihar polls.

Incident of Dadri is very unfortunate but opposition should not play politics of polarization

Narendra Modi Prime Minister of India, vision for country "Sabka-Sath-Sabka-Vikas" is taking very seriously so he don't want any distressing situation in the country. When he come to know about the Dadri Incident he is hurt by the news and said that the killing of 50 year old man in dadri and stopping the concert of Gazal Singer "Gulam Ali" is very sad. This type of things should not be repeated as this will going to fade the image of India on International ground.

He clearly state that this incident invited nationwide condemnation. He said Hindu and Muslims has to fight with poverty on the same ground why they are fighting with each other.

BJP has never supported this type of Incidents. It is the opposition that is giving fire to the incident to make there ground by polarizing people on the basis of religion.

However, there is no connection to the Centre and these issues are related to law and order and the concern of the state governments," the Prime Minister said in an interview to Anand Bazaar Patrika.

This is the first time that Prime Minister Modi has spoken not just about Dadri, but also about the events in Mumbai against Pakistan's Ghulam Ali and former Pakistan minister Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri.

“This type of debate has also emerged in the past. BJP has always protested against this type of pseudo-secularism. However, facing this kind of social evil today, these debate has cropped up again. With discussions this debate can be settled.”

Dadri's 50-Year-old Akhlak is dragged out by 200 people and beaten to death only after getting the news from the loudspeaker of cow slaughtering and eating it. Concerned over communal incidents in Dadri and other places, the Centre had last week asked all states to take strict action against those who attempt to weaken the secular fabric of the country by exploiting religious emotions.

BJP leaders like "Mahesh Sharma, Sanjeev Baliyan and Sangeet Som ji" have visit dadri and give condolence to the family but the oppposition has made it political agenda and tried to stop Bhai Sangeet Som to reach the venue. But none of the political agenda has able to stop him.

STOP FIGHTING ON BASIS OF RELIGION IF YOU HAVE TO FIGHT THAN FIGHT FOR POVERTY: Narendra Modi
